Some thoughts on older dogs While you are looking at these pictures and thinking about adopting a dog, please don't overlook the older dogs. These precious dogs have so much love to give! It is heartbreaking to think that their people left them to die without returning the loyalty that these dogs have shown all of their lives. They may not have many years to live, but they deserve to live out the rest of their lives with dignity, to have good food, a warm bed, someone to love them, and someone to cry for them when they pass away. Growing old is a fact of lifeit will happen to all of us. These wonderful dogs do not deserve to be homeless because they dared to get old! Look in your heart. Do you have room to love a Senior Citizen? "Old
dogs, like old shoes, are comfortable. They might be a bit out of shape,
and a little worn around the edges, but they fit well." "Some repay loyalty with faithlessness and give no thought to their own final hours, when they might have to ask another to grant them the mercy that they whithheld from those who trusted them"
Why are other breeds listed here? From time to time we get a call from a shelter or an owner about a dog in need. Some of these breeds do not have a rescue group in this area. Sometimes a rescue for a certain breed is unable to help a particular dog. This is when we step in to help if we can. We love all dogs, and would hate to see one lose it's life because it's not a Sheltie.
Please note: We request that you submit an application before inquiring about an available dog. When a dog comes into rescue, we try to make a match with applications we have already received. Therefore, not all dogs in rescue will appear on this page. If you have already submitted an application and are interested in one of these dogs, just contact us. You do not need to submit another application. |
