DIAMOND is a 6 year old male. He was surrendered by his previous owners, to another rescue group, who transferred him to us to address his skin condition. We are pretty sure Diamond has Dermatomyositis (DM) also known as sheltie skin syndrome. More information on DM can be found here. While looking at that site please read about Misty Mouse and her accomplishments. We had Diamond neutered this week, he was bilateral cryptorchid (his testicles never decended from his abdomen). Becasue of this he had developed a testicular tumor called Seminoma. These types of tumors are usually benign and rarely spread. This particular type of tumor produces estrogen, which is why his coat is dry and brittle. Now that the tumor is gone his coat should start to improve. Diamond doesn't care that his face is scarred or that his coat is brittle and dry. He thinks life is great and lives it to the fullest. He is not at all shy, he loves everyone. He likes to let the neighborhood know how happy he is every time he is let outside. He loves to play with toys and chase squirrels. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. He is house broken and crate trained. Once Diamond has a diagnosis and any needed medications are started he is hoping to find an active family who can look past his scars and help him celebrate his joy of life. |
